Barbara Desrosiers is back! Barbara’s solo exhibit, Intuitively Speaking, Conversations with the Guardians officially opens this Friday, February 6th, 5:30-8:30 at the gallery in our Pop-Up gallery space. The opening is free to the public, (live music and light refreshments).
Barbara was a gallery member for many years, and we are happy to have her artwork back in the gallery. Many of her pieces sold quickly at her last exhibit here, so don’t wait to come in and see what new work she has created.
Artist’s Statement
Creation has been my driving force since I could hold a crayon. Art, the
creation of and the viewing of, has always been a spiritual search, a search for
connection to the other side. After years of being a representational artist, The
Guardians emerged for me in 1981. In the beginning they were but a
suggested presence in the background. However, in recent years they have
grown to be my sole focus. They are a bridge between this reality and the
unseen reality that exists just beyond our breath.
My work has morphed from representational to the more intuitive abstract
work that I now produce. Creating is my form of personal meditation. If my
work speaks to you, that is wonderful. I feel it finds its own audience. I do not
assign meaning to it, that is entirely up to you, the viewer, to define. Each
piece has a message for personal interpretation. I do not claim the power to
know what that might be for you. Please, spend some time conversing with my
Guardians and see if you, too, can find a connection.
